The California Tomato Research Institute, through its Grower Members, provides funding and directs applied research in the areas of processing tomato agronomics, pest and disease management, genetics, and in-field automation. See links below for specific, topical information.
Broomrape
The parasitic weed, broomrape, continues to pose a significant threat to California tomato production. As an industry, we do not want this weed to spread throughout the state. Clink the link below to go to our dedicated broomrape page.
disease diagnostics
The Swett Lab, at UC Davis, is the Diagnostics Services Lab for the industry in California. Field level recommendations around soil borne pathogens provided by the research we fund are built off of the foundation of knowledge which starts in this lab. This service would not be possible without the generous support of the grower members of the CTRI. If you have a particularly challenging diagnostics issue contact your local Farm Advisor for a field visit and to get a sample into this lab.
